Therapy for relationship concerns

“Why do I always pick the wrong person?” “I thought they were the one and now I am feeling very alone.” “Adult friendships are hard, and it turns out I have no idea how to make friends/build community as a grown-up.” Being in relationship with other humans is so weird because we are wired for connection, but we’re also no always very good at it. If your relationships are struggling, therapy with me can help you build practical skills (healthy communication, boundary settings, where to find social groups) and help you clarify your values in relationship, so you know what you want and how to get it!

Therapy for self image/self esteem

Hey, I’m a recovering former gifted kid and overachieving perfectionist myself, so I know a thing or two about imposter syndrome and not feeling “good enough.” Together we can explore the stories you tell yourself about who you are, where those stories came from, and… here’s the best part… we can write new stories! Plus, engaging in therapeutic art and music is a great way to explore sense of self and to practice doing things imperfectly.

Therapy for trauma

First, if you’ve landed on this page, I have a feeling that means you’ve made a huge step even considering trusting another person to hold parts of your story. So thank you for being here.

My first focus in trauma treatment is always to build that trust with you, and to make sure you have a solid set of skills you can use to help yourself feel grounded, regulated, and in your body (and the expressive arts are great for this!). Then we will start telling the story. I believe there is huge therapeutic value to having someone bear witness to your story and to help hold it with you. (Sometimes we might tell this story with words, or we might make art or music about it). And then once we have built that safe container to hold it, we can start picking out pieces, one by one, examining them, and then placing them back in a way that leads to a more present and fulfilling life.

Therapy for worry and anxiety

Here’s the good news: anxiety is your brain and body trying to protect you- it just doesn’t always do a very good job! Together we can explore what your anxiety is trying to tell you, and then you can decide how much you actually want to listen. Together we can build skills for coping, relaxation, self-care, and nervous system regulation. And best of all, we can help you feel more in control of your own life!

Therapy for life stress

Honestly, it would be more surprising if you weren’t feeling stressed over the state of the world right now. It’s wild out there, and we’re still supposed to just… go to work and live our lives everyday? Wild! But I firmly believe there are still areas where we can feel more in control of our lives and areas where we can find hope and resilience. What is most important to you in your life? What do you value? And how can you build a life that still aligns with those values, even if not in the way you would have thought? Let’s explore- there might still be more room for joy than we think!
